Karazhan Here I Come, Or Not

Karazhan Here I Come, Or Not

So, last night I made it to level sixty-eight. I'm so close to seventy! I also started the quest chain for my Karazhan key. Woo hoo! Today I was able to obtain the first key fragment from the quest going into Shadow Labyrinth. I need two more fragments in the next quest. The first of the two going into Steamvaults, will be just about as hard as the very first fragment. However, the second piece on this quest will pose a bit of a problem. I require a flying mount to reach the instance the second piece is in. You can't obtain a flying mount until you're level seventy, which costs an arm, a leg, and a head in gold or your soul to the devil. Unless, of course you are a Druid with flight form then you can enter as early as level sixty-eight. Damn my luck! I'll most likely end up buying the gold online for my mount given that I am very far behind in the game and can't afford to spend time farming 6,000+ gold. There are three groups killing in Kara within my guild. The first has it on farm and has moved on to Zul'Aman. The second is farming it at the present time and thinking about ZA. Finally, the third group has yet to make it all the way through, but is very close to the end. SHIT! I'm so far behind! Not to mention that I plan on staying as a Retribution Paladin since I've spent so much of my quest rewards on Ret gear, plus I like the Ret system even thought the DPS numbers are too low at the moment. So that means that no one is going to want to take me on a raid until Ret Pallies get fixed by Blizzard. Ugh, I want my specialization fixed now! Well I'm going to go get a group together for a Steamvault run to get the next key fragment. Cheers mates!

New Projects

New Projects

So, I started a new knitting project over the weekend. You’ll never believe me when I tell you. I’m using Lion Brand Homespun yarn. How’s that for a glutton for punishment? However this time I decided to go with a solid color that way I don’t have to worry about matching up colors and I decided to knit “It” double stranded.

This project is definitely a Yule gift, so I can’t say too much about it. All I’m going to say is it’s about one-third of the way complete. Thank goodness! I’ve been working very hard on knitting it as fast as possible. Now to keep it under wraps till I can give it away is the next step once I finish it.

Now that I’ve knitted a nice portion of it, I’ve decided that I’d like to find a similar yarn in wool and make a sweater out of it; and maybe even the same stitch pattern I’m using as well. All I know is that it would make one of those nice cozy sweaters which is all you’d need to wear outside in the cold weather.

I wish I had an unlimited supply of yarn and needles to knit projects with. So far I’ve got one skein of yarn in my stash. Everything else is bagged and labeled as future projects. As far as I can count there’s only three: two pair of socks, a sweater, and a pair of gloves. I need needles damn it! That’s my only drawback.

Well I am going to go knit for a while. Cheers mates!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

It’s sort of become a tradition (seven years running if you can count that as a tradition) that I go to the bars and drink for the holidays. This year was no different. I ended up spending the afternoon and onwards at the Pub with the leader of my knitting group and his Beau. Man, did we drink! Shots and bourbon were on my drinking list. Then we ended up going back to the Beau’s place to catch Ugly Betty and drink vodka of course. After a great episode of one of my favorite shows I ended up going back to the Pub and drinking even more. Then I hopped across the street to have a drink or two before heading back to the Pub to have a final drink (shots) and call it a night. I really tried to drink as much as possible because I woke up today a bit hung over. Oh well, what can I say, I like to drink. Oh by the way it snowed on Thanksgiving. Sadly I didn’t catch any of it. I only managed to be out when it was raining on a frosty holiday. Well I’ll keep you informed of my happenings. Cheers mates!

Fuck Off and Die: Knitting Defiance

Fuck Off and Die: Knitting Defiance

It seems life is against me at the moment when it comes to my knitting. I am going to have to give the scarf away to someone short enough for the length to look good on them. Meaning a kid, who will never appreciate it for what it’s worth and out grow. Not to mention I don’t know any kids. I am so fucking pissed off about that. I was hoping to wear the damn thing myself; the colors went well with my complexion. I’m going to unravel what I have done with the second ball and bind off on the scarf. I’ll add some fringe and call the fucker done. I’m so over that damn thing.

As for what’s next? I want to start on either two pair of socks or a sweater. I have the yarn for the socks. I only have partial the amount of yarn for the sweater, but I want to get it started. Both projects I need new knitting needles for. I don’t have small enough DPNs for the socks or circular needles in the right size for the sweater. If I had enough money I’d go out and buy every size DPNs and circular needles so I would only ever have the problem of never having enough yarn.

I also need to do something with that beautifully deep sea blue sock yarn that I have. The only advice I’ve been given about the yarn is to make something for either a baby or ornaments. Why on earth would I make something for a baby who will only spit up on it? Don’t even get me started about making miniature ornaments for a Christmas tree. Every time I pass the skein all I can think of is to make a pair of gloves out of it. That is if I have enough; I’d have to wind it off into two separate balls first to find out. I need to post in the FnF yahoo group if someone has a ball winder.

I can’t find the holiday issue of Interweave Knits anywhere I’ve been. I’ll have to hit up a knitting store I guess. I want that fucking pattern for the Koolhaas hat. I’m sure I’ll need new sized needles for the hat as well. I’m thinking quick Yule gifts with a pair of matching Knucks to go along with; easy and simple enough to make. And if I have the time and extra money maybe a scarf to go along with; but it sure as hell won’t be with any of that Homespun shit. I am totally against that stuff in any variegated colors. I’ve learned my lesson; solids are better suited for that brand of yarn.

So as you can see, on all knitting fronts I am being fought. Hopefully things will start smoothing over soon enough so I can get projects out of the way. I now realize why winter holiday knitting is done during the summer; it’s simple, small, easy, and you’re not sitting under a ton of hot wool. Oh well, better late than never I guess. Maybe there will be a Day After Thanksgiving Sale at The Shabby Sheep. That would help when buying all those damn expensive needles.

Well I’m going to go play some World of Warcraft. I’m a level sixty-six Paladin now. It’s only taken me a total of seven weeks to get there. I’ve been playing since July but have had so many computer problems that have forced me to stop playing for intervals at a time. I’m so close to level seventy I can taste it. My goal is to have made it there by the end of the year and leveled another character to at least thirty if not forty. That way I can start New Year’s with a level seventy and another half way on its way there as well. Thank goodness the experience gained from levels twenty to sixty have been altered beneficially.

I guess I will update you later in the week as to what was made of it. Cheers mates.

Ugh... I'm so pissed... I could cry...

Ok, I just posted the following at the knitting yahoo group I’m apart of in Dallas.

For those of you who were at the last knitting group (c. and d.)… you know what project I’m working on… for those of you who don’t… a scarf… made out of lion brand homespun...

I finally finished with the first ball a few nights ago... I put it
down for a day or two for a breather... its about three-and-a-half to
four feet in length... another ball and I’ll be done... woo hoo...

i picked it back up today to start the second ball...

ARGH... I’m in knitting hell...

when I picked out the two skeins... I looked at color to make sure
when I finished one ball... the second one would pick up as closely
to where the first one left off... smart thinking one would think...
and so it was...

However I failed to take into account the fluffiness... caused by
the tension thread in the yarn... they sure as hell don't match... and I’ve tried to make it work...

I’ve lessened... and pulled tight the tension thread to make it puff
up like the other... its a no go... and you can tell how thin the
thread knitted looks compared to the first half...

I’m in hell... I’ve spent the last two-and-a-half hours trying to
find a solution... other than pulling out all of what I’ve knitted
and shortening the width... or doubling the thread which would never
work color wise... or trying to return it and finding a better match
(good luck on me finding the receipt)...

I’m at a loss... anyone have any ideas that might work... I’ve put it
aside for now so I can cool off... I’m stressed and disappointed... all that hard work seems to be going down the drain so fast... and
until I find a solution... I really have nothing to knit until I can
get different sized dpns for socks...

I need a drink... or two... or six...

I’ll catch you guys later... cheers mates...

It really is sad to do all that work and have it blow up in your face. I’m so over that damn scarf. I need to go and de-stress. But how do I do that when knitting is what relaxes me? Ugh! I’ll find something I’m sure. Cheers mates.

Joined a New Group

Joined a New Group

I just had to say that I joined a new yahoo group. It’s the Monthly Dishcloths group. I found it on someone’s blog. The premise of the group is that there are two dishcloth patterns given out a month on the first and sixteenth. Over the course of seven days from the start date you receive a portion of the pattern. That way over a week you get to see the design unfold before your eyes.

I love that idea. They say the first is a theme for the month best done in a solid color. The second dishcloth of the month is a themed repeatable pattern you can opt to do in a variegated yarn. I’m very excited. I need to go out and buy a ton of cotton yarn to make dishcloths.

I think I’ll be more interested in the second cloth of the month more so than the first. This is mainly due to the fact that I’m not big on the positive-negative style of knitting being done for the first one. I’d be more tempted to give those away as presents and keep the all over repeat for myself.

Damn it, I’m already starting to think about Yuletide gifts already! I know for sure I need to come up with gifts for two people: “My Giant” and “The Hobbit.” I hate this time of year; it’s all one big whirlwind affair. And it goes by so quickly in the blink of an eye. I’m already dreading the madness. More so the cold that comes along with this time of year.

Well I’ll get back to you guys later. Cheers mates!

Ugh I feel like shit!

Ugh I feel like shit!

Just what the title says: I feel like shit! I’m sick. I started to feel bad Thursday night. I woke up Friday morning with a fever. The thermometer said 100.3 degrees. My fever finally broke this evening around eight. What a crappy way to end my week and start the weekend.

It sucks! I had to give up going to Houston with “My Giant” and “The Hobbit” to see “My Giant’s” family. He seemed really hurt. Everyone was supposed to be there; and I mean everyone in his family that I’ve met to date. Talk about cramped sleeping quarters. I missed out on getting to go to the Renaissance Festival as well as the Quilt Show going on this weekend. I missed out on having fun with everyone that I like. Life sucks!

I’ve been in bed all that time feeling icky and not working on my knitting. I’ve finally got one item started and going in a good direction. Of course I can’t talk about it since I’m not sure if I’m going to be giving it as a gift or not; that might ruin the surprise if word got around. I’ve done nothing to the grey and blue scarf. It is the most tedious project to work on. It’s going to take me another year to finish at this rate. But I love how it looks.

And since I haven’t eaten anything since Thursday night I’m starving. For some odd reason I have a craving for scrambled eggs and fried potatoes. Not a fucking idea as to why. We’ve never cooked those two items together as breakfast before in my household. Actually I’ve rarely had them together in my life that I can think of. And the last time I had them was over the summer when “Farmboy” helped make breakfast. How odd?!

Ok now that I’ve checked mail and made myself hungry, I’m going to go cook and then browse the web for more knitting. Talk to you guys later. Cheers mates.
